On a school trip to the Museum of Moving Images, teacher Alice Goode and sixth form pupil, Ronnie Parsons disappear without a trace.

Peter Maxwell is determined to find his missing student and colleague.

But what looks like a case of missing persons takes a sinister turn when Maxwell discovers a cold case. Two young women abducted from a darkened cinema two years ago. One found dead. One alive but with no memory of that fateful day.

Both look identical to Alice Goode.

Then Alice’s flatmate is found dead and Ronnie Parsons’ bag is discovered next to the body.

Maxwell is thrown into a world far removed from essay crises and the staff-room banter of Leighford High. Alice was not the straight laced teacher she had everyone believe.

If Maxwell is to find a killer he must first discover who Alice really was . . .
