The Sanford Third Age Club are enjoying one of their famous weekend breaks at the haunted Palmer Hotel, at Elvington, near York.

The witching hour approaches and things begin to happen. A valuable necklace goes missing, then during the ghost hunt, Joe’s lighter is stolen along with Les Tanner’s expensive pen. A guest is found dead, and Joe, ably assisted by his constant companions Sheila Riley and Brenda Jump are in the thick of it once more.
