The Girl in the Attic

'Fear drove Marley to hide in the attic of a great English mansion,

and Fear kept her there for a further seventeen-years'.

One dark, storm drenched night in 1898,

the locksmith’s niece, Marley, suffers an agonising fate.

Ashamed and afraid of the consequences of her ordeal,

she escapes the village of Mells to find solace at

Wilbury House, where her only friend, a young

Housemaid lives and works.

When Marley reaches the vast attic of the grand house,

she hides among the old furniture and memorabilia

stored there, as she makes herself a home.

While the family and servants in the house below

go on with their lives, unaware of the intruder

in the attic, Marley stays undiscovered, hidden among

the Wilbury family secrets for another seventeen years.

The Girl in the Attic is a story of survival in the strangest

of circumstances, a story of secrets, love and friendship

and a story of agoraphobia, as the world outside the attic

becomes Marley’s biggest fear.
