The True History of the Elephant Man

Joseph Carey Merrick is better known as the Elephant Man. Through horrible physical deformities he spent much of his life exhibited as a fairground freak. Eventually rescued by the surgeon Frederick Treves, Treves discovered that Merrick possessed a nature as gentle and dignified as it had been deprived and tormented.
