Tiger Lily

The tiger lily is a large fiery flower, with dark spots on its petals and up to six prominent stamens. These characteristics make it a bright and showy statement in gardens and flower arrangements alike.

To create this flower…

1. Pipe a Y-shape guide mark for your first three petals.

2. Holding your piping bag at a 20 to 30 degree angle, and using the nozzle and the orange-red buttercream, pipe three rounded two-stroke petals (see Basic Petal Strokes), following your marks.

3. Pipe three more rounded two-stroke petals in between the first three petals.

4. Using red buttercream in a piping bag with a small hole at the tip, pipe a few short lines coming from the centre.

5. Use violet buttercream in a piping bag with a small hole at the tip to pipe short lines perpendicular to the tips of the red lines to make the stamens.

6. Randomly pipe very small dots around each petal using the violet buttercream.
