WE CAME HOME and had an incredible wedding in August 2006. It was fantastic. Three hundred and thirty people came to Russell, Manitoba. We were married overlooking a lake on the prairies. Water is always kind of calming for everyone, and it was just a beautiful day. Hot with a nice little prairie wind. Josh, Beaux and Tatym were there.
About forty-five minutes before the wedding, a whole cloud of colourful butterflies showed up. They circled through the crowd and swirled around our heads. During the ceremony, there was one black butterfly with white stripes on its wings that sat on the pole above us. Partway through, it fluttered over to my dad and landed on his leg. Then, as soon as Jenn and I said, “I do,” it rode upward on the breeze and flew away.
