Maz’s My-lo

SERVES 1; MAKES 500 ML (17 FL OZ/2 CUPS)

As a small kid, I loved chocolate drinks. This version is so satisfying, yet filled with organic plant-based wholefoods and superfood powders. No extra sugar, no harmful additives, no chemicals you can’t pronounce. Just good old-fashioned wholesome ingredients that make a delicious and nutritious drink. Get into it.

400 ml (14 fl oz) of your favourite nut mylk (I use Macadamia mylk,)

2 cups ice cubes (see Tip)

4 heaped tablespoons raw cacao powder, plus extra for dusting

2 tablespoons coconut sugar

1 teaspoon maca powder

1 teaspoon mesquite powder

2 tablespoons shredded coconut

tipIn cooler weather, you can omit the ice and blend the ingredients for longer — basically until the blender jug is warm to touch. High-speed blenders are so powerful that the friction of the blades spinning against the jug’s contents creates heat. You can use this same technique to make warm raw soups.
