Sigils are potent talismans and magickal batteries that can also help in visualizing because they eliminate the need for intricate, detailed visualizations of people, places, or things. A sigil is a tool that holds the energy you put into it, so you don’t have to continually think or visualize whatever outcome you’re working toward. The sigil on the cover of this book represents magick.
A sigil is a shape that acts as an actual physical representation of whatever thing or condition you want to manifest, or the energy you wish to use to manifest it. Sigils are effective because they let you work in all levels of reality to attain your desired result. I have written much about sigils in my books High Magick and Angels & Archangels, but I have never shared instructions on how to make one yourself until now.
To create a sigil, choose a word like the name of an element, planet, or angel that represents the energy you wish to generate, or something that represents your desired outcome.
Place a piece of paper over the Rose Cross template on page 192.
The sigil starts with a circle and ends with a line. Find the first letter of your word. Draw a small circle there.
Starting from the small circle, use a straightedge to connect each letter of the word from the center of one “petal” to the next. When you get to the last letter draw a short line perpendicular to the line you just drew, right where it ends.
If a letter does not exist on the template, then use the sound of the letter instead, or if that is not possible then omit the letter completely from the sigil.
You can draw this sigil on any object or simply on a piece of paper. You can charge it with the energy of an element, angel, or any other beneficial force.
See page 234 for charts of elemental correspondences.
