INSTRUCTIONS

Poncho

Preparation……Apply fusible interfacing to facing

1. Finish neckline with facing and bias tape (use same fabric as bodice).
2. Fold over sleeve openings twice and sew.
3. Sew sides (*M through both layers. Press seam allowance towards back).
4. Fold up hem twice and sew.
*M = neaten raw edge using serger or zig zag stitch

[How to make bias tape]

1 Insert fabric strip through bias tape maker.

2 Slowly pull fabric from the opening. As the fabric is fed through, the sides will form folds.

3 Press to create fold lines.

[How to join bias tape]

1 Open up the bias tape, and with right sides together and with edges aligned, sew 1/4 in (0.5cm) from edge.

Stockinette stitch

14 stitches and 21 rows = 4 in (10cm) swatch

Finished size (approximate) length: 25 5/8 in (65cm) circumference: 8 5/8 in (22cm)

INSTRUCTIONS

Poncho

Preparations ……*M for sleeve ruffle edges

1. Finish neckline with bias tape (same fabric).
2. Fold over sleeve openings once and sew.
3. On the side of the ruffle that will be attached to the sleeve, sew gathering stitches.
4. Attach ruffle to poncho (*M through both layers and continue with neatening the rest of the hem).
5. Fold up hem once and sew.
6. Line up front and back of poncho together to form a sleeve at the ruffle and stitch in place.
*M = neaten raw edge using serger or zig zag stitch

Leg Warmers

Cast on stitches in the round and start with a rib stitch.

Switch to stockinette stitch without decreasing or increasing.

Revert to rib stitch and bind off.

Repeat for other leg warmer.

Hooded Stole

Fabric [Tartan] ……58 in (148cm) wide 1 1/8 yd (1m)

INSTRUCTIONS

Preparation……Apply fusible interfacing to facing

1. Sew along each side of the stole. This will prevent the fringe from raveling the rest of the fabric.
2. Sew the back center of the hood.(*M through both laters. Press seam allowance towards right side).
3. Sew darts for hood. (*M through both layers. Press seam allowance towards front).
4. Fold over edge of hood twice and sew.
5. sew stole and hood together (press seam allowance towards stole).
6. Double fold the shoulder section and hem and sew.
7. Pull out threads from the edge of the stole to create a fringe. Do not pull beyond the stitch line from step 1.
*M = neaten raw edge using serger or zig zag stitch

[How to make a fringe]

Image

1 Sew 1 in (2.5cm) from the edge. Then sew a parallel line 1/4 in (0.5cm) from that first stitch line.

2 Using an awl, pull out 1–2 weft threads until you reach the stitch line.

3 Trim the fringe to even out the ends.

3. Sew underarm (*M through both layers. Press seam allowance towards back).
4. Attach sleeves (*M through both layers. Press seam allowance towards sleeve).

Beret

Cast on for circular knitting and start with rib stitch.

Switch to garter stitch and increase/decrease according to chart.

Thread yarn end twice through the last stitches and tighten.
