Rnd 1 (RS): 2 dc in 3rd ch from hook, 1 dc next ch and in each ch across. Work 3 more dc in last ch (for a total of 4 dc), working along other side of foundation ch, dc in each ch across, 2 dc in last ch. Join with sl st. Turn (20 dc).
Rnd 2: Ch 2. Bpdc around 1st dc, *sk 2 sts, fptr around next 2 sts, working behind 2 sts just made, fptr around skipped sts. Sk 2 sts, fptr around next 2 sts, working in front of 2 sts just made, fptr around skipped sts.** Bpdc around each of next 2 sts, rep * to ** once more, bpdc around last st. Join with a sl st. Turn.
Rnd 3: Ch 2. Fpdc around 1st st, bpdc around next 8 sts; fpdc around next 2 sts, bpdc around next 8 sts, fpdc in last st. Join with a sl st. Turn.
Rnds 4–9: Rep Rows 2 and 3 three times more.
Rnds 10–12: Ch 2. [Bpdc around next st, fpdc around next st] around. Turn.
Finish off.
Ch 131 (or to length desired). Sl st in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Finish off, leaving at least a 4" (10.2cm) strand for connecting. Put one end of strap through hole of clasp and secure to strap (about 1" [2.5cm] above clasp) using yarn and yarn needle. Secure other end in same manner. Connect directly to 2 rows of ribbing. You may choose to add a small ring to MP3 cover and connect clasp to ring.
Weave in ends.

Put one end of strap through hole of clasp and secure to strap (about 1" [2.5cm] above clasp) using yarn and yarn needle. Secure other end in same manner. Weave in ends. Connect directly to 2 rows of ribbing. You may choose to add a small ring to cover and connect clasp to ring.

Straps are easy to add using long chains, slip stitches and lobster clasps.
You can always add a fabric lining to custom fit your device cover. Attach the lining by hand sewing it into the cover below the ribbing.
