Low Front Ridge, Cable, Knurl, Celtic Weave
Woven st: Yo, insert hook into indicated st, pull up a lp, pull hook through 1 lp on hook, yo, pull through both lps on hook (1st half complete). Yo, insert hook into same st, pull up a lp, pull through both lps on hook (2nd half and Woven st completed).
Treble cluster (tr cl): *Yo twice, insert hook into indicated st, pull up a lp, [yo, pull through 2 lps] twice, rep from * 2 more times, yo, pull through all 4 lps on hook.
Picot: Ch 3, sl st in 3rd ch from the hook.
Cable and Knurl stitches framed by the Low Front Ridge give this Celtic Cross Afghan and Pillow a beautiful, three-dimensional texture that will look lovely in any room.

Row 1 (WS): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across row. Turn (176 sts).
Rows 2 & 3 form the LFR pattern.
Row 2 (RS): Ch 1. Working in flps only, sl st in 2nd sc and in each sc across. Sl st in turning ch. Turn.
Row 3: Ch 1. Working in rem lps of last sc row, sc in each sc across. Turn.
Rows 4 & 5 form the Cable pattern. On Row 4, you will turn the work each time a Cable is made.
Row 4: Ch 1. Sc in 1st st, *ch 3, sk 2 sc, sc in next sc. Turn and work 1 sc in each ch of ch-3 just made. Join to next sc with a sl st (Cable made). Note: In the next row, you will work a sc in the 1st and last st, and 3 sc evenly spaced behind each Cable (on WS). Note: Pieces will be joined with the RS facing out. Overlap back pieces and line up evenly, (st by st using pins or st markers) lining up sts of the front pieces to those of the back sections. The back pieces will overlap in the center. (Three layers to line up in this section for the opening to remove pillow, allowing for easier cleaning of cover after completing.)
