As you walk out the door, the soldier returns with several of his friends. You and Sarah duck into the alley. “At least we can see them without being in the middle of the fight,” you say. The ropeworkers use clubs to hold off the soldiers. But as the soldiers leave, they yell that they’ll be back.

You return to work at Mr. Hancock’s. It’s a tense weekend in Boston. Soldiers interrupt church services. Everyone seems nervous.

Around 9:00 on Monday night, March 5, the church bells begin to ring. “It’s a fire!” Cook yells.

You grab a bucket to help fight the fire. But Cook holds you back. “What if it’s not a fire? I have a bad feeling. I think you should stay inside.”
