To go outside.You race outside. A large crowd is gathered in the street. You follow the crowd to King Street. Everyone is yelling and shouting. Young boys are throwing pebbles and snowballs at the soldiers. “Stand off!” the soldiers yell.
People in the crowd are taunting the soldiers. “Fire!” they yell. “Fire your guns!”
Boom!
A man near you cries out. Edward Payne, standing in the entry door of his shop, grabs his arm. “I’ve been shot.”
You help him inside, where his wife binds the wound to stop the bleeding. “Please find a doctor,” she begs.
You dash outside to find the doctor. People are yelling, shouting, and pushing one another. Church bells clang. The streets are dangerous. You should get back to Mr. Hancock’s house as quickly as possible. But Mr. Payne needs help.
