No law dictates which glass you use for a cocktail, of course. Yes, it’s more practical to serve iced drinks in roomy highball or rocks glasses, but only the worst stickler will insist that a sour be served in a sour glass or liqueur in tailor-made liqueur glasses.

At The Four Seasons, women are frequently served drinks in stem glasses, no matter the cocktail. This makes for a more artistic presentation, and—in our experience, at least—women are more likely than even the most meticulous gentleman to keep a stem glass upright and upspilt.
