Books

These are just a few books that I found especially useful during my own shadow work for various reasons. You might want to read them too.

Dark Goddess Craft: A Journey through the Heart of Transformation by Stephanie Woodfield

This wonderful book is a collection of information about dark goddesses from around the world and includes detailed meditations and rituals to interact with each one.

The Pagan Book of Living and Dying: Practical Rituals, Prayers, Blessings and Meditations on Crossing Over by Starhawk, M. Macha Nightmare, and the Reclaiming Collective

This book examines all aspects of death, illness, and grief from a Pagan perspective. It goes into great depth on how to deal with the dying process of yourself and others.

Mysteries of the Dark Moon: The Healing Power of the Dark Goddess by Demetra George

This book very clearly explains the moon cycles, particularly the dark moon phase, and how they affect our lives and bodies. The author explores dark deity and the divine feminine.

Celtic Lore and Spellcraft of the Dark Goddess: Invoking the Morrigan by Stephanie Woodfield

This book has everything—literally everything—you could ever wish to know about the Morrigan and all her faces. It also includes rituals and rites to work with this triple goddess.

Online Shops

Below are several places to purchase bones and preserved body parts of animals and humans.

The Bone Room

An American bone and curio seller with a good reputation.

Skull Store

A Canadian bone and curio shop that is very clear about where and how their items were sourced.

www.skullstore.ca

Etsy

A worldwide crafter’s website that sells all kinds of things, including animal remnants and bones sold as craft supplies. Use the search bar to find bone sellers around the world. If you’re concerned about where the seller sources their parts, reach out and ask them prior to purchasing. Sometimes there are laws prohibiting the sale of animal parts between countries, so this website can be useful in finding a seller in your own area to avoid this problem.
