17 SAP Cloud Platform Integration for SAP PO
“I don’t need a hard disk in my computer if I can get to the server faster . . . carrying around these non-connected computers is byzantine by comparison.”
– Steve Jobs
As of SAP Process Orchestration (SAP PO) release 7.5, with SAP’s latest cloud integration platform, SAP Cloud Platform Integration, it’s possible to reuse and leverage artifacts developed in your SAP Cloud Platform Integration tenant SAP PO. SAP PO is now equipped with a small and lightweight SAP Cloud Platform Integration runtime engine. Therefore, it’s possible to deploy, run, and manage the cloud integration content artifacts (e.g., integration flows, value mappings, and security artifacts) in SAP PO.
The purpose of this chapter isn’t to cover SAP Cloud Platform Integration as an integration platform, but to explain how it integrates with SAP PO. If you want to learn more about SAP Cloud Platform Integration, refer to the book SAP HANA Cloud Integration by Bilay, Gutsche, and Stiehl (SAP PRESS, 2016 www.sap-press.com/3979).
This chapter focuses on explaining how the cloud integration content artifacts of SAP Cloud Platform Integration can be leveraged in SAP PO. We cover the following topics in the next sections:
- How to enable cloud integration content
- How to download, deploy, and consume services
- How to perform monitoring
Note that this feature isn’t automatically made available as you install SAP PO 7.5.
We’ll begin by discussing how to enable cloud integration content in SAP PO.
17.1 Enable Cloud Integration Content in SAP PO
To use cloud integration content in your SAP PO instance, the following prerequisites need to be in place:
- You must have an SAP Cloud Platform Integration tenant.
- You must enable the integration gateway component in SAP PO (discussed later in this section).
-
You must ensure that the user performing the installation has the roles mentioned in Table 17.1.
Role Name Description NWA_SUPERADMIN Provides authorization to view, modify, and import trust certificates in SAP NetWeaver Administrator. NWA_READONLY Provides authorization to view and display monitoring data in SAP NetWeaver Administrator. SAP_XI_ADMINISTRATOR Provides authorization to view, modify, and deploy security artifacts in the Cloud Integration Content Management Cockpit. SAP_XI_CONFIGURATOR Provides authorization to view, modify, and deploy cloud integration content in the Cloud Integration Content Management Cockpit.
Enabling the integration gateway component is a prerequisite to using the cloud integration content. The integration gateway can be enabled using the Central Technical Configuration (CTC) wizard, as follows:
- Go to the SAP NetWeaver Administrator at link http://<hostname>:<port>/nwa.
- From that page, navigate to Configuration • Scenarios • Configuration Wizard.
- From the Configuration wizard, find the PI Cloud Integration Content, as shown in Figure 17.1.
- Select the PI Cloud Integration Content entry from the table, and click on the Start button. This will start the wizard to enable the SAP Process Integration (SAP PI) cloud integration content.
After the wizard is completed, the Status column will be changed to Finished successfully.
