Last Airships in the U.S. Navy Aircraft Inventory
The above thirteen airships were on hand when the last LTA units were decommissioned on 31 October 1961. All were at NAS Lakehurst. All were stricken from the inventory on 27 December 1962.
a Was used experimentally as a Flying Wind Tunnel in the year following termination of the LTA program and made the last operational flight by a Navy airship on 30 August 1962.
b Was used in antisubmarine warfare experiments in the year following termination of the LTA program and on 31 August 1962 made the last flight by a Navy airship.
