ABOUT THE AUTHOR

JON KABAT-ZINN, Ph.D., is the founder of MBSR (mindfulness-based stress reduction) and the Stress Reduction Clinic (1979) and of the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society (1995) at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He is also professor of Medicine emeritus. He leads workshops and retreats on mindfulness for health professionals, the tech and business communities, and for lay audiences worldwide. He is a strong proponent of social justice and economic justice. He is the author or coauthor of ten books, including the bestselling Wherever You Go, There You Are and Full Catastrophe Living. With his wife Myla Kabat-Zinn, he published a book on mindful parenting, Everyday Blessings. He has been featured in numerous documentaries for television around the world, including the PBS Special Healing and the Mind with Bill Moyers, Oprah, and CBS’s 60 Minutes with Anderson Cooper. He lives in Massachusetts. His work has contributed to a growing movement of mindfulness into mainstream institutions such as medicine, psychology, health care, neuroscience, schools, higher education, business, social justice, criminal justice, prisons, the law, technology, government, and professional sports. Hospitals and medical centers around the world now offer clinical programs based on training in mindfulness and MBSR.
