(from Harvey Weinstein interview, page 102)
Gwyneth: We had one instance in a hotel room where [Harvey Weinstein] made a pass at me. And then I really kind of stood up to him. I told my boyfriend at the time.
Howard: Brad Pitt.
Gwyneth: Brad Pitt.
Howard: By the way, I love him for this.
Gwyneth: I love him for this too.
Howard: You told him, “Harvey just did something really weird.” And Harvey’s moves are weird.
Gwyneth: It was weird. I was alone in a room with him.
Howard: Did you have any vibe leading up to it that he might be dangerous?
Gwyneth: Definitely not. It was out of the blue.
Howard: He felt like a father figure to you, probably.
Gwyneth: Yeah. I was blindsided.
Howard: And all of a sudden, “Let’s go take a massage.” That’s the move.
Gwyneth: Yeah, that’s the move.
Howard: He was naked?
Gwyneth: No, he was fully clothed. No bathrobe.
Howard: When you tell Brad, he says, “Fuck this guy. I’m gonna go over and confront him.”
Gwyneth: So what happened was, I told him right away. I was very shaken by the whole thing. And I’d signed up to do two movies with him. I was afraid. We were at the opening of Hamlet on Broadway that Ralph Fiennes was in. Harvey was there. And Brad—it was like the equivalent of throwing him against the wall, you know? Energetically, it was like that.
Howard: Great guy, Brad Pitt, for doing that. But at the same time it’s your story. It’s your relationship with Harvey. As most guys do, he took action. Maybe you weren’t even looking for that. He took it upon himself to confront Harvey.
Gwyneth: It was so fantastic, because what he did was he leveraged his fame and power to protect me at a time when I didn’t have fame or power yet.
Howard: Did he ever tell you what he said?
Gwyneth: Yeah, he came back and told me exactly what he said. He said, “If you ever make her feel uncomfortable again, I’ll kill you.” Or something like that.
Howard: Wow. That’s awesome.
Gwyneth: Yeah, it was great.
Howard: I would’ve done the same thing.
Gwyneth: Well, where the fuck were you then?
