HOMEMADE HUMMUS

Yields 2 cups

Yes, you can buy ready-made hummus from the store. But making hummus from scratch not only saves lots of money but also helps reduce plastic in the environment. It’s a win-win! I also love how customizable it is, too. Add extra garlic or make it more lemony—the choice is totally yours.

Ingredients:

1 (15-ounce) can chickpeas, drained and rinsed

2 cloves garlic

¼ cup tahini

2 tablespoons lemon juice

3 tablespoons water

1 teaspoon ground cumin

Salt, to taste

Directions:

1.    In a food processor or blender, blend all the ingredients on high until completely smooth.

TONI’S TIPS:

>>You can save this in the refrigerator for up to 7 days. If the hummus and water start to separate, just give it a good stir.
