CONGRATULATIONS on your new lifestyle!

I’m so proud of you!

I really encourage you to take the principles of this book to heart, and to stick with them.

Believe me, I know what it’s like to be overweight and feel really bad about it, but today I know the spectacular feeling of being lean and healthy. Once you get that feeling, I bet you’ll never want to give it up.

Don’t ever forget the wonderful health benefits that come to you when you live and eat this way.

You’ll live longer, more happily, and more actively. You’ll be around longer for your kids and your significant other—to laugh with them, savor delicious food with them, and chase them around more. And chances are you’ll stay out of the hospital more and you won’t have to take bucketfuls of medicine and pills every day—all because you decided to eat right and get physically active.

What inspired you to do this in the first place was the promise of a diet that wasn’t a diet, but a lifestyle you could fall in love with over the long term.

It’s a beautiful dream, and it can absolutely come true for you!

Remember: The diet that will work best for you is the healthy eating pattern that you can enjoy over the long term. And that’s exactly what I’ve given you.

Staying lean and healthy is a lifelong process of staying aware, and of periodic monitoring of yourself—your weight and other health stats.

Your weight may go up and down a bit, especially around holiday seasons, and you might slide down the slippery slope of losing your inhibitions now and then and find yourself putting on weight. It can creep on slowly and quietly and then suddenly, BANG! You’ve put on too much!

It’s OK! Forgive yourself! I’ve been there myself and I know how bad it can feel. You can sit around and feel miserable, and lament, “Why did I let this happen to me? I can’t get out of this bind!”

Sure you can.

Just go back to the basic principles we’ve explored in this book, and you’ll get back on track.

And remember why you decided to eat and live healthy—so you’ll be alive, happy, and healthy for your family, your children, your friends, and all the people who count on you!
