Babymoon It Up
Assuming your pregnancy isn’t high-risk and your doctor or midwife has given you the green light to travel, we urge you to get out there and do it (especially if you’re pregnant with your first child).
You won’t have much (if any) precious alone time once the baby arrives, so we beg you to take advantage. You may be thinking to yourself that you’ll just travel later avec bébé. You can (and should) do that as well, but we promise you it’ll be a bazillion times less restful for everyone involved. You can also take solo trips down the road, of course, but they will be shorter and will require a lot more planning.
In case you need that extra nudge before clicking “book now,” we’ve compiled a list of reasons for you to get out there and nap in another country:
- You’ve basically already funded it by not buying all the shit you don’t need, outlined here. (Right?)
- Salt water is nature’s gift to pregnant women. Because you can float, all the extra baggage you’ve been hauling around will suddenly drift away and render you weightless.
- Fretting about your current non-bikini body is a non-issue. A glowing pregnant belly silhouetted against a sunset or ocean backdrop is straight-up goddess material.
- Travel destinations make ideal locations for spontaneous maternity photoshoots. In case you forgot what Paris looks like.
- You will sleep more peacefully being away from your to-do list and your mother’s round-the-clock calls and emails.
- You will reconnect with your partner (especially if you can muster the willpower to disconnect from your phone).
- If Europe is your vibe, adhering to the local culture and customs will work quite well in your favour. The Italians and the French will shoo away your pasteurization concerns and have you eating the richest cheeses in no time.
- You have a wonderful excuse to shop, since everything can be considered a token and souvenir of this incredible moment in your life. Especially that red YSL clutch.
Calm and relaxed mama = calm and relaxed baby. So go on—get out of here, and get your chill on. You deserve it.
