The cooling properties in mint make this drink perfect for a hot afternoon. Originating from the Indian subcontinent, a lassi is a yogurt-based drink seasoned with popular spices from that region, such as cumin, cardamom, and even chiles. If you want a thinner drink, add a bit more water, 1 tablespoon at a time, until the desired consistency is achieved.
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
½ cup mint leaves
1 cup plain, unsweetened yogurt
½ cup water
1 In a dry skillet over medium heat, toast the cumin seeds until fragrant, 1 to 2 minutes.
2 Transfer the seeds to a blender, along with the mint, yogurt, and water, and process until smooth.
Substitution tip: If you prefer the flavor of cilantro over mint, try it here instead. Another great substitute is to use ½ cup of strawberries along with ¼ teaspoon of ground cardamom in lieu of the mint.
