The park does not offer guided horse rides or pack trips, but visitors are welcome to bring their own stock. Horses, llamas, burros, and mules are allowed on all designated trails with the exception of Manzanita Lake Trail, Lassen Peak Trail, and portions of Cinder Cone, Reflection Lake, and Bumpass Hell Trails, and any paths within Devil’s Kitchen and Sulphur Works thermal areas. A free wilderness permit (see Backpacking) must be obtained prior to trail use. Hitching posts are available at Summit Lake Corral, Butte Lake Corral, and Juniper Lake Corral. The rate is $4/animal plus camping fee.
