Fabric Requirements and Cutting

SEWING DIAGONAL SEAMS

Align the 2 pieces of fabric with right sides together. Use a fabric marker to draw the diagonal seam line as shown in the diagram. Sew along the marked line. Trim away the excess fabric to leave a ¼˝ seam allowance. Press the seam open.

1. Sew together 4 pieces A. figure a

2. Place a piece B on top of a unit A. Mark and sew the diagonal seam. figure b

3. Place a second piece B on top of the unit A. Mark and sew the diagonal seam. figure c

4. Repeat Steps 1–3 to make a second stripe unit AB.

Finish the Block

1. Sew the 2 stripe units together.

2. Sew piece C to the left side of the block.

3. Sew piece D to the right side of the block. figure d
