Fabric Requirements and Cutting
NOTE
Some of the pieces in this block are cut using templates from Pattern 7. The dimensions listed in the chart under “Size to Cut” represent the amount of fabric required for each piece. More fabric may be required for shortcut piecing or fussy cutting.
To make a template from a pattern, refer to Making and Using Freezer-Paper Templates. When cutting your fabric, remember to add seam allowances and mark points for matching seams.
Make the Block
Make the Star
1. Sew a piece B1 to the left side of a piece A.
2. Sew a piece B2 to the right side of piece A.
3. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 to create a total of 4 units AB, each 3˝ × 3˝. figure a
4. Arrange and sew the 4 pieced points into 2 rows of 2 each. figure b
5. Sew the rows together to complete the star.
Finish the Block
1. Sew piece C to the top of the star unit, and piece D to the bottom.
2. Sew piece E to the left side of the star unit, and piece F to the right side. figure c
