Fabric Requirements and Cutting

NOTE

All the pieces in this block, except piece E, are cut using templates from Pattern 13. The dimensions listed in the chart under “Size to Cut” represent the amount of fabric required for each piece. More fabric may be required for shortcut piecing or fussy cutting.

To make a template from a pattern, refer to Making and Using Freezer-Paper Templates. When cutting your fabric, remember to add seam allowances and mark points for matching seams.

Make the Block

Make the Diamond Units

1. Sew 2 each of pieces B1 and B2 to the 4 sides of a piece A. figures a & b

2. Repeat Step 1 to make a second diamond unit.

Make the Contrasting Diamond Unit

Sew 2 each of pieces D1 and D2 to the 4 sides of piece C.

Finish the Block

1. Sew the 3 diamond units together, placing the contrasting diamond in the center.

2. Sew pieces E to the left and right sides of the block. figure c
