Fabric Requirements and Cutting
NOTE
Some of the pieces in this block are cut using templates from Pattern 20. The dimensions listed in the chart under “Size to Cut” represent the amount of fabric required for each piece. More fabric may be required for shortcut piecing or fussy cutting.
To make a template from a pattern, refer to Making and Using Freezer-Paper Templates. When cutting your fabric, remember to add seam allowances and mark points for matching seams.
Make the Block
Make the Left Side
1. Center and sew together pieces A1–A4. Use Template A from Pattern 20 to cut unit A from the pieced unit. figure a
2. Sew pieces B1 and B2 to unit A to make a pieced unit 4½˝ × 5½˝. figure b
Make the Right Side
1. Center and sew together pieces A4–A1. Use Template A from Pattern 20 to cut unit A from the pieced unit. figure c
2. Sew pieces B2 and B1 to unit A to make a pieced unit 4½˝ × 5½˝. figure d
Finish the Block
Sew together the left and right sides. figure e
