Fabric Requirements and Cutting
NOTE
Most of the pieces in this block are cut using templates from Patterns 27 and 28. The dimensions listed in the chart under “Size to Cut” represent the amount of fabric required for each piece. More fabric may be required for shortcut piecing or fussy cutting.
To make a template from a pattern, refer to Making and Using Freezer-Paper Templates. When cutting your fabric, remember to add seam allowances and mark points for matching seams.
Make the Block
Make the Small Cookie Unit
1. Sew together pieces A1 and A2.
2. Sew together pieces A3 and A4.
3. Sew together units A1A2 and A3A4 to create a square 2½˝ × 2½˝. figure a
4. Sew piece C to the top of unit A, and piece D to the bottom. figure b
Make the Large Cookie Unit
1. Sew together pieces B1 and B2.
2. Sew together pieces B3 and B4.
3. Sew together units B1B2 and B3B4 to create a square 3½˝ × 3½˝. figure c
4. Sew pieces E to the top and bottom of unit B. figure d
Finish the Block
1. Sew together the small and large cookie units.
2. Sew piece F to the left side and piece G to the right side. figure e
