Fabric Requirements and Cutting
NOTE
Some of the pieces in this block are cut using templates from Pattern 42. The dimensions listed in the chart under “Size to Cut” represent the amount of fabric required for each piece. More fabric may be required for shortcut piecing or fussy cutting.
To make a template from a pattern, refer to Making and Using Freezer-Paper Templates. When cutting your fabric, remember to add seam allowances and mark points for matching seams.
Make the Block
1. Center and sew together 1 each of pieces A1–A3. Use Template A from Pattern 42 to cut a unit A from the pieced unit. Repeat to make a mirror image of the first unit A. figure a
2. Sew pieces B1 and B2 to the sides of each unit A.
3. Sew together the 2 pieced units AB. figure b
4. Sew pieces C to the top and bottom of units AB. figure c
5. Sew pieces D to the top and bottom of the joined units ABC.
6. Sew pieces F to the sides of each piece E. figure d
7. Sew units EF to the top and bottom of the block. figure e
