Fabric Requirements and Cutting
Align the 2 pieces of fabric with right sides together. Use a fabric marker to draw the diagonal seam line as shown in the diagram. Sew along the marked line. Trim away the excess fabric to leave a ¼˝ seam allowance. Press the seam open.

For Steps 1 and 2, refer to Sewing Diagonal Seams.
1. Place a piece E on top of a piece A. Mark and sew the diagonal seam. Repeat to make 3 left leaf units. figure a
2. Place a piece E on top of a piece A. Mark and sew the diagonal seam. Repeat to make 3 right leaf units. figure b
Make the Top Unit
1. Sew pieces G to the bottoms of a left and a right leaf unit.
2. Sew together the 2 leaf units, sewing a stem piece D between them.
Make the Middle Unit
1. Sew pieces G to the top and bottom of a left and a right leaf unit.
2. Sew together the 2 leaf units, sewing a stem piece C between them.
Make the Bottom Unit
1. Sew pieces G to the tops of the remaining left and right leaf units.
2. Sew together the 2 leaf units, sewing a stem piece D between them.
Finish the Block
1. Sew pieces F to the sides of the pieces B. figure c
2. Sew together the top, middle, and bottom units, sewing units BF between them. figure d
