The Pollinator Smoothie

Suffering from asthma or allergies? Pick up some bee pollen from a local farmers’ market or beekeeper. Bee pollen is a wild powder collected by bees from plants and flowers. Granules from this powder are formed as they are accumulated on the bee until it takes it back to the hive and starts all over. Local pollen is preferable because it is collected from the very things in your area that may be aggravating your allergies. Ingesting the pollen works under the same premise as receiving an immunization. It slowly introduces your body to the irritant so that it can build up antibodies to ward off a future infection or irritation.

Recipe Yields: 3–4 cups

2 cups mixed greens

3 medium pears of choice, peeled and cored

1 tablespoon local bee pollen

2 teaspoons raw honey (local is best)

2 cups green tea, cooled

  1. Combine all ingredients and blend on high until smooth.
  2. Add more liquid if necessary.
