Energetic Artichoke Smoothie

Although artichokes are most commonly used in salads and appetizers, raw artichokes make for a tasty addition to Paleo green smoothies such as this one and are high in carbohydrates, making them an instant source of energy. Artichokes pack a protective punch against colon cancer, inflammation, and bone loss.

Recipe Yields: 3–4 cups

2 cups spinach

4 artichoke hearts

1 small tart apple, peeled and cored

1 medium carrot, peeled

2 cups green tea, cooled

  1. Combine all ingredients and blend on high until smooth.
  2. Add more liquid if necessary.
