Trail Mix Smoothie

Ingest your trail mix in liquid form before your hike with this delicious smoothie. It will yield lasting energy while you maneuver your way through the forest, rocks, and water. For long hikes, freeze this drink in a portable bottle so that it will be melted and chilled by the time you are ready to take a break for an energy boost.

Recipe Yields: 3–4 cups

2 cups spinach

14 cup unsweetened coconut flakes

1 medium apple of choice, peeled and cored

14 cup goji berries

1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder

4 pecan halves

1 tablespoon raw sunflower seeds

2 Medjool dates, pitted and diced

2 cups unsweetened almond milk

  1. Combine all ingredients and blend on high until smooth.
  2. Add more liquid if necessary.
