Tomatillo Mary Smoothie

The tomatillos in this Bloody Mary alternative are loaded with nutritional benefits to aid in weight loss, improve digestion, help prevent some cancers, and increase energy levels, to name a few. The jalapeño provides a little kick in the middle of the afternoon as well as vitamins A and C, phenols, flavonoids, and capsaicinoids that help the body fight inflammation.

Recipe Yields: 3–4 cups

2 cups spinach

1 tablespoon cilantro

3 tomatillos, husked and cored

1 green onion

12 lime, peeled and seeded

1 cucumber, peeled

12 jalapeño (keep seeds for extra heat)

Pinch of sea salt

2 cups water

  1. Combine all ingredients and blend on high until smooth.
  2. Add more liquid if necessary.
