Beet the Bloat Smoothie

Beets lend a natural sweetness to this smoothie and aid in the detoxification process, especially if left uncooked. When heated, beets can lose some important nutrients such as betalains, which aid in the elimination of toxins from your body. Just a side note: Beets can cause your urine to turn red, so don’t be alarmed!

Recipe Yields: 3–4 cups

1 cup watercress

2 small beets plus top greens, peeled and chopped

1 small carrot, peeled

12" knob ginger, peeled

1 tablespoon raw sunflower seeds

2 cups water

  1. Combine all ingredients and blend on high until smooth.
  2. Add more liquid if necessary.
