This too is just a set of general instructions to help you layer your ingredients in just the right order to keep your salad fresh, not limp. Get creative to prepare any kind of salad you like. Make a few on Sunday to have for work for the next several days.
INSTRUCTIONS
1 Start with a clean, dry mason jar with a lid. Then add ingredients in the following order. Feel free to omit anything you don’t want in your salad.
• A tablespoon or two of salad dressing
• Hard vegetables and fruits such as carrots, celery, cabbage, apple, and the like
• Black beans, chickpeas, and other beans
• Cooked grains like farro, quinoa, pasta, or rice
• Softer vegetables and fruits such as tomatoes, avocado, strawberries, blueberries, and peaches
• Meats, cheeses, and hard-boiled egg
2 Fill to the top with leafy greens such as arugula, spinach, or lettuce.
3 If you won’t be eating your salad within a day or two, omit the meats and egg. Add them on top of the leafy greens in the morning of the day you plan to eat your salad.
4 Before eating, shake the salad and pour it onto a plate or bowl. Use a fork to mix the salad.
