Let this recipe be a blueprint for all your breakfast smoothies to come. The beauty of smoothies is that with the flip of a switch you have all you need for a filling breakfast in a matter of minutes. This recipe is easily adaptable to suit your preferred fruit, greens and nut butter. —MR
SERVES 1
1 cup (150 g) frozen berries
½ frozen banana, cubed
1 tsp chia seeds
1 small handful rolled oats
1 tbsp (11 g) almond butter or any nut butter
¾ cup (180 ml) almond milk or water
1 large handful spinach
1 tsp maca powder (optional)
Simply blend all of the ingredients in a blender until smooth and creamy. Place it in a mason jar or cup, and take it with you on your way out the door!
Note: If you’re new to breakfast smoothies, consider sticking with spinach (as opposed to kale) for your greens of choice. It is mild in flavor and completely masked by the taste of the fruit.
