Getting Out of Trouble

If you have been hit and are dazed, or when a barrage of blows is incoming and you have no time for a more thought-out response, then your best option is to ‘crash in’. Cover your head with both arms, elbows pointing forward, and lunge at the opponent.

Offensive Defence

You have been caught unawares. The blows are raining in and you are not able to respond with counter punches or effective evasions. Firstly, move backwards out of immediate striking range. Then lunge forward, with your arms covering your head.

Crashing In

Your elbows will strike your opponent first, causing quite a lot of pain, and you will be protected by your arms from whatever he is doing. Once in close you may be able to trap his arm to stop him hitting you while you collect your wits and get back in the fight, or start delivering knee and elbow strikes.

Grab the opponent’s arm and hang on, shutting down his strikes while you get back into the fight.
