Appendix A - Underground Hydrogen Storage Sites in the Continental U.S.
Stewart et al of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) have evaluated potential sites for storing hydrogen underground in the continental US [A-1]; they identified three types of storage sites:
1.Salt Deposits (Figure A.1)
2.Oil and gas reservoirs (Figure A.2), and
3.Sedimentary basins (Figure A.3)
As shown in these three figures, most areas of the United States are close to one or more of these three hydrogen underground storage options
