Pattern Essentials

Traveling Leaf (multiple of 12 stitches plus 5)

Row 1 and all odd-numbered rows (WS): Purl.

Rows 2 and 4 (RS): K2, *k1, yo, k3, k2tog, k1, ssk, k3, yo; repeat from * to last 3 stitches, k3.

Rows 6 and 8: K2, *k1, ssk, k3, yo, k1, yo, k3, k2tog; repeat from * to last 3 stitches, k3.

Repeat Rows 1–8 for pattern.

Seed Stitch (worked over an odd number of stitches)

Row 1: *K1, p1; repeat from * to last st, k1.

Repeat Row 1 for pattern.

Granny’s Little Diamond Lace Blankie

This blankie, knit circularly from the center out using a simple six-round lace diamond design, is just the right size for Granny to use when cuddling and rocking a grandchild.

Knitting the Blankie

Notes: Each time you repeat Rounds 17–22 there are enough new stitches to work the 8-stitch repeat one more time. For example, the second time you work Rounds 17–22 there are enough stitches to work the 8-stitch repeat twice, then when you repeat these rounds again there are enough stitches to work the repeat three times, and so on. The blankie shown worked Rounds 17–22 nine times for a total of 70 chart rounds, and used almost the entire skein of yarn.
