Saving Messages as Drafts

If you need to write a lengthy message, you may not have time to write the entire message in one sitting. In this case, you can save your message in the Drafts folder. Here's how:

  1. Create a new email message or respond to an existing one to display a message window on the screen.

  2. Type your message.

  3. Click the Save As Draft button.

  4. Click the close button of the message window. The left pane of the Mail window displays your Drafts folder along with a number to identify how many messages are currently stored in the Drafts folder, as shown in Figure 44-7.

The Drafts folder displays the number of messages stored but not sent yet.

After you've saved an email message in the Drafts folder, you can open that message to edit and send it by doing this:

  1. Click the Drafts folder that appears in the left pane of the Mail window. The right pane lists all your saved messages.

  2. Double-click a message. Your chosen message appears in a separate window.

  3. Type or edit your message.

  4. Click the Send button (or click the Save As Draft button to save your message in the Drafts folder again). When Mail sends your message, that message disappears from the Drafts folder.
