Lemony Lemon Crème Fraîche

Makes between 1½ and 2 quarts ice cream

My Aunt Mary is a bona fide lemonhead. She will choose a lemon dessert over all others 100% of the time, and she is constantly asking me for new lemon dessert recipes. She even bought herself a special Microplane just for zesting lemons for making cookies! This ice cream is for people like Aunt Mary who absolutely love-love-love lemon. It’s puckery enough to come with a warning label, but for any true lemon lover, it’s a badge of honor.
