The table below shows worldwide seizures for the main controlled-drug categories, in kilograms.1 This is based on UN data series, as found in the reports of various agencies (the CND, INCB and UNODC). The series are only as good as the information provided by member states; the data, therefore, can only be incomplete, though collection improved over time. Because the data have been erratic, the totals are presented here as three-year averages (for example, the number for 1950 is an average for 1949–51). Stimulants chiefly comprise amphetamines, not including Ecstasy. For the last few years, the source data group heroin and morphine together.
