Angelic Weather Vane

On January 30, 1846, an angelic weather vane was installed on the octagonal tower of the Nauvoo Temple.10 It is unknown whether or not the vane’s angel represented Moroni. That vane is now lost to history, but it was considered to be similar to William Weeks’s drawing, which depicts an angel, horizontally positioned, with a book in his left hand and a trumpet in his right hand. The angel is blowing the trumpet (see entry “Trumpets and Trumpet Stones”).
