Temples, Future

Both modern and ancient prophets have prophesied that there will be temples in the last days and even beyond, as the following statements demonstrate:

Brigham Young: “To accomplish this work there will have to be not only one temple but thousands of them, and thousands and tens of thousands of men and women will go into those temples and officiate for people who have lived as far back as the Lord shall reveal.”301

Wilford Woodruff: “When the Savior comes, a thousand years will be devoted to this work of redemption; and Temples will appear all over this land of Joseph—North and South America—and also in Europe and elsewhere.”302

Isaiah: “It shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains” (Isaiah 2:2; emphasis added).

Ezekiel: The Lord states, “I will make . . . an everlasting covenant with them . . . and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore” (Ezek. 37:26–27; emphasis added). Ezekiel chapters 40 through 46 describe a future temple.

Zechariah: “The man whose name is The Branch . . . shall build the temple of the Lord; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne” (Zech. 6:12–13; emphasis added; see also vv. 14–15; 1:16–17).
