If you would like to find out more about freefrom food and freefrom cooking, then you should look at the food and recipe pages on Michelle’s FoodsMatter website – FoodsMatter.com . There are over 800 freefrom recipes – all free of gluten – 95% free of milk and 75% are free of nuts, soya, sesame and most of the other major allergens. Each recipe is flagged for what it is ‘free of’. FoodsMatter also has huge directories of freefrom food manufacturers, mainly based in the UK.
Michelle has always been involved with food, first as a caterer in the 1970s and 80s and then as a historian of English food. She was just embarking on a major story on English food in the year that her son was diagnosed as dairy intolerant and she turned her attention to food allergies and intolerances. She had already written a number of books on food history (Food fit for Pharoahs, The Victorian Cookbook, Pepys at Table, The British Museum Cookbook, Festive Feasts
) so it was not long before she was also writing for those on restricted diets:
Cooking Gluten, Wheat and Dairy Free
, Diabetic Cooking for One or Two, The Everyday Wheat and Gluten Free Cookbook, Diabetic Cooking for Health, Eat
to Beat IBS, Cooking for Arthritis
and more. The most recent to appear is her revised issue of her
The Allergy Catering Manual
, perfect for any catering establishment wanting to enter FoodsMatter’s FreeFrom Eating Out Awards!
