Bio

Walidah Imarisha is a writer, organizer, educator, public scholar, and poet. She is co-editor of the anthology Octavia’s Brood: Science Fiction Stories from Social Justice Movements, and author of the poetry collection Scars/Stars. She has facilitated writing workshops at schools, community centers, youth detention facilities, and women’s prisons. Imarisha currently teaches in Portland State University’s Black Studies Department.
