DIMORPHODON

Dimorphodon was one of the first pterosaurs to be scientifically described. Fossil evidence tells us that pterosaurs walked on all fours when they were on land and were unable to fold their wings like birds can.

1With the skin color facedown, make a Preliminary Base Start (see page 5). Fold the flap to the right. On the bottom layer, fold the right flap to the left.

2Fold the flap down.

3Turn the model over and rotate it 180ยบ.

4Book fold two flaps to the left.

5Valley fold up on the diagonal so the flap is standing up.

6Adjust the wing so it points to the side, then fold two layers on the left to the right and flatten.

7Mirror steps 5 and 6 on the opposite side to make the other wing.

8Fold the corners under, then turn the model over.

9Valley fold the corners up.

10Turn the model back over.

11Valley fold the model in half down the middle, then mountain fold the wings down as shown.

13View the tail from the side. Mountain fold the tail in half to flatten it.

14Press the tip of the tail open and spread it out.

15Mountain fold the tip.

16View from above. Press the tail edges in at the sides, making inside reverse folds as shown.

17Shape the tail: curl it at the base and at the tip.

18Mountain fold the wings.

19Form the lower jaw: valley fold the diagonal and unfold. Then outside reverse fold the outer layer.

20Press two edges down. Repeat on the other side of the head.

21Press the head flat from the sides. Valley fold the tip up.

22Rotate the model so it is belly up. Valley fold the corner up.

23Mountain fold along the angle bisector, then valley fold along either side of the mountain fold.

24Press the edge in and inside reverse fold.

25Mirror steps 22 to 24 on the opposite corner. Turn the model over.
