They just wanna be excited

Toddlers get themselves super hyped-up about the smallest things. They’re dying to be excited about life. They spend all day looking around and waiting to be amazed and fascinated. You should exploit this as much as you can.

Sure, this sounds a bit sketchy but if you’re going to bring joy, you might as well bring joy to your child AND yourself.

It’s all in the way you say it.

You could say, ‘Time to pack up!’ and you would be speaking to the ether.

Or you could say, ‘Hey, who wants to help Mummy PACK … THINGS … UUUUUPPPPP?’ and your child will come running like you’re Larry Emdur on The Price is Right.

The thing is, when your toddler gets all wild-eyed-thrilled about something truly mundane, you can’t help but get excited about it too. Toddlers are infectious. And yeah, I mean that in all senses of the word, too. They’re also walking Petri dishes of bacteria and you’ll catch everything from them. But mostly you’ll catch feels. Good ones. And bad ones. But let’s focus on the good ones right now.
